If you run a UK dental practice, reviews are now the single largest lever on new patient numbers — Google's local pack drives roughly 60% of new-patient searches, and Google's local algorithm is weighted heavily toward review velocity, sentiment and reply rate. The right software shifts you from collecting a handful of reviews a quarter to dozens a month, with replies inside an hour. The wrong software costs you £400 a month and produces a dashboard nobody opens.
This guide compares the six platforms we see most often in UK dental practices, with prices, target tiers, what each one does best, and where it falls short. We make Vimub, so treat our entry with appropriate scepticism — we've still tried to be honest, including where the competition genuinely beats us.
What UK dental practices actually need
Before the comparison, the buying criteria that matter for a UK dental practice (which are not identical to a US dental practice):
- GDC-compliant request templates. The GDC's social media guidance prohibits soliciting reviews in ways that imply guarantees of outcome.
- UK data residency. NHS practices and any practice handling PHI under HIPAA-equivalent NHS DSP toolkit obligations want EU/UK hosting.
- Multi-location roll-up if you have more than one site.
- Integration with your patient management system (Software of Excellence, Dentally, Carestream, etc.) so the request fires automatically after the appointment.
- Honest pricing in GBP — not a USD list that becomes £400 once VAT and FX are added.
Vimub
Price: £197/mo Growth (3 locations), £397/mo Dominator (10 locations). 14-day trial, no card.
Target tier: Independent practices and small groups (1–10 sites).
Best for: Practices that also want AI Visibility tracking — Vimub is the only one of the six that monitors whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are recommending your practice when patients ask for a dentist nearby. Replies are drafted by Claude in your tone within 60 seconds of a review landing. UK data residency on Supabase EU.
Weakness: Younger than Podium and Birdeye — fewer than 1,000 active practices on the platform, no SOC 2 certificate yet (Type 1 audit scheduled). If you need a procurement-grade compliance package on day one, you'll want a more established vendor.
Podium
Price: ~£289/mo entry, £429/mo for the tier most practices end up on. US-headquartered, billed in USD.
Target tier: Mid-market multi-site groups.
Best for: A polished webchat-to-text product and a strong sales motion. If you want a sales rep who will phone you back within 30 minutes and a slick onboarding experience, Podium wins.
Weakness: Pricing inflates fast once you add SMS volume — UK practices regularly pay £500+/mo once the dust settles. US-centric — review request templates don't always read well to UK patients, and the data residency story is "AWS US-East with EU sub-processors", which some practice managers can't get past procurement.
Birdeye
Price: ~£249/mo entry. Annual contract usually required.
Target tier: Mid-market, the closest direct competitor.
Best for: Breadth of integrations and a mature surveys product. If you've already standardised on a particular EHR or CRM, the odds of a native Birdeye integration are high. The reporting suite is the most comprehensive of the six.
Weakness: Annual contracts make it hard to leave. The UI has accumulated complexity over a decade — most practices use 15% of what they pay for. No AI Visibility tracking.
Reputation.com
Price: Enterprise pricing — typically £600–£1,200/mo per location.
Target tier: Large dental groups (20+ sites) and DSOs.
Best for: Genuinely the best tool if you run a 50-practice group. SOC 2 Type 2, mature multi-location reporting, dedicated CSM, sophisticated location-by-location benchmarking against the market. The procurement deck is bulletproof.
Weakness: Wildly overkill for an independent practice. The minimum spend is more than Vimub's top tier. Onboarding is measured in weeks, not hours.
BrightLocal
Price: From £29/mo for the reporting tier, ~£79/mo for the reputation product.
Target tier: Solo practitioners and very small practices.
Best for: The cheapest credible option. Strong on citation building and local rank tracking — they were one of the original local-SEO toolkits. UK-founded (Brighton), so the data residency conversation is straightforward.
Weakness: Lighter on the operational side — reply drafting is basic, no proper unified inbox, no SMS sender, no campaigns engine. You'll outgrow it the moment you cross a few hundred patient interactions a month.
Trustpilot Business
Price: Free entry tier, paid tiers from £199/mo, up to £750+/mo.
Target tier: Consumer-facing practices that already have Trustpilot traction.
Best for: If a meaningful share of your patients are already finding you on Trustpilot, the official integration is the smoothest route. Trustpilot's brand carries weight in some patient segments.
Weakness: It's a Trustpilot product — it does Trustpilot extremely well and Google, Yelp, Facebook only as second-class citizens. For UK dental, Google is the platform that drives appointment bookings, not Trustpilot, which makes this a poor primary tool for most practices.

How to actually choose between them
Three honest questions to ask yourself:
- How many sites do you run? One to ten: Vimub or BrightLocal. Ten to fifty: Birdeye. Fifty-plus: Reputation.com.
- Do you care about being recommended by ChatGPT? If yes, only Vimub tracks it. If you think AI search is overhyped, skip this criterion.
- What's your true monthly budget, including SMS overages? If it's under £300 all-in, Podium and Reputation.com will run hot. Vimub, Birdeye and BrightLocal fit.
How Vimub helps
Vimub is the only platform on this list that does AI Visibility tracking alongside review management, and the only one priced in GBP with UK data residency by default. We won't pretend to be the right answer for a 50-site DSO — but for a one to ten-site UK dental practice that wants to win the local Google pack and the new ChatGPT-driven discovery channel, we'll do the work for £197/mo.
